The studio is run by Lee and Marcy Harpe, who together have over 59 years of professional dance training in Ballroom, Latin, Country and Swing dancing. Their philosophy is straightforward: make dancing fun and affordable for everyone.
Lee and Marcy are competitive dancers with an exceptional record. They have been competing together professionally in country dance for the past 20 years and hold 4 World Championship titles in 4 years, including the Couples Crown World Championship title won in January 2009 and defended three times since. They also won the Diamond 1 Advance World Championship in 2007. Beyond their own success, they have coached numerous UCWDC World Championship-winning students. Lee is a certified judge for both the NDCA (ballroom) and UCWDC circuits; Marcy is certified on the UCWDC circuit. Both are currently judging, teaching, choreographing and coaching competitive couples from across the country.
Elizabeth Wilson teaches beginner-level students and runs a youth group class for ages 8–18 that combines character development, dance, and team building. She trained through a 4-month intensive programme at Ballroom Dance Teacher College (BDTC) in San Francisco and completed it with high honors. She won the UCWDC World Championship ProPro Open II division in January 2018 with Lee Harpe, and one of her students also won a World Championship that same month. Elizabeth also teaches ballroom dance as a middle school dance teacher in the Oklahoma City Public School System.
The studio offers group and private lessons with daytime and evening classes. It is the only non-contract studio in town. The studio hosts regular competitions and events, including the annual Harpe's Studio Lake Weekend at Grand Lake, and sends students to major competitions including the UCWDC Country Dance World Championships, Dallas Dance Festival, Oklahoma Challenge, Oklahoma Dance Rush, and New Mexico Dance Fiesta. The culture at the studio centres on what Lee and Marcy call TEAM HARPE—an environment where students support one another and instructors help with every aspect of dancing.
