About this studio

La Danse Cleveland occupies over 6,000 square feet of studio space in Beachwood, designed to feel like an upscale social club. The ballroom floor is central to the experience—reviewers consistently praise it as "the best and biggest dance floor in the entire area"—and it's used for teaching, practice, socialising and hosting regular dance parties.

The studio is run by co-owner Esther Rehm-Cohen, who became a certified ballroom instructor in 1981 and was former coach of the Case Western Reserve Ballroom Team. She has won national Top Teacher Awards and been named National Top Female Competition "Teacher of the Year". She holds national certification as a judge in American Style, International Latin, International Standard and Theatre Arts. Tim Brown, with a dance career spanning almost three decades, brings experience from Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire Dance Studio, plus ten years as an owner and independent operator in the Cleveland area. He is known for creating classes and private lessons that are "informative, humorous, fun and affordable". Suzanne Gelinas and Jim Ferris, owners of Always Dancin' studio in Elyria, also teach at La Danse Cleveland on weekends. Instructors including Jonathan, Megan and Christopher are named in student reviews.

Private lessons are 40 minutes, scheduled by appointment one-on-one or with a partner, available from 10 am until 10 pm, 7 days a week. Group classes are 40 minutes, usually scheduled once a week on a specific day, at $20 per person per class. A $25 introductory private lesson is offered to new students. You do not need a partner to attend any class or party; group classes are designed so you can rotate partners.

The studio runs social dance parties regularly, and these are open to the public with no forced contracts to sign. Wedding dance choreography is offered—past couples have worked with instructors like Jonathan to choreograph their first dance. The studio also hosts corporate events and private group events. Community outreach includes "Yes, You Can Dance!" a program for individuals aged 18 and older with intellectual or developmental disabilities, held in spring 2026 sessions. La Danse Cleveland partners with Ohio Cancer Research to host a Dance Marathon fundraiser (held at SouthPark Mall in Strongsville on November 8, 2026) and hosts an award ceremony for participants.
