About this studio
Lindy Harbour is a swing dance school in Basel teaching Lindy Hop, Partner Charleston, Solo Charleston, Authentic Jazz, Balboa, and Blues. All these styles have roots in African-American culture and the jazz era, and the studio emphasises the freedom, connection and improvisation at their heart.
You can start with a Kick-off Weekend (compact and intensive) or join weekly courses structured in five modular levels. All courses run without a partner requirement — partners are rotated regularly in classes, and you choose whether to lead or follow, regardless of gender. The studio also runs Bi-Role courses where you learn both roles and switch during the dance.
Lindy Harbour's regular parties are central to the community. Each party begins with a free crash course so newcomers can join immediately. The studio's own Community Band, The Sailors, plays regularly, alongside the professional Lindy Harbour Band. Parties are drop-in; come alone, with a partner or with friends.
Classes cost 25 CHF per lesson (20 CHF with a valid student ID, cultural worker credentials, or on demonstration of financial need). You can try a course risk-free for three weeks and receive a full refund if it's not for you. Registration uses a booking app and is binding. Cancellation up to 14 days before a course begins is refunded; later cancellations forfeit fees. With a medical certificate, you get a full refund if injured or ill. External workshops have a 4-week cancellation window but tickets can be passed to someone else.
