About this studio

Tickle Toe Hep Cats teaches and hosts swing dancing in Münchenstein. The studio's heart beats for the sounds and rhythms of the 1920s to 1950s—Lindy Hop, Boogie-Woogie, Rockabilly-Jive, Charleston, Authentic Jazz and Shag. You'll find them at SwingWerk (Tramstrasse 66, on the Walzwerkareal), which has been their home since January 2016.

They offer dance courses, regular training sessions, and workshops. Summer workshops focus on strolls and group dances, running 90–120 minutes and drop-in friendly. Topics include Swing Stroll and The Madison, Charleston Stroll and Cha Cha Cha Stroll, Shim Sham and Jitterbug Stroll, and Cardiff Stroll and Heel Shag Shuffle.

The venue hosts frequent social dance events. Friday Cats Stomp is a regular Friday night party. Seasonal events include the Hawaii Cats Stomp (August), Halloween Cats Stomp (October) and Christmas Cats Stomp (December). The Hawaii Lounge & Bar serves coffee, cake, soft drinks, beer and cocktails. Past events have included Dine & Swing Nite (three-course dinner with a seven-piece live band in the Hofmattsaal), Bebbi Hop (described as Basel's oldest surviving Lindy Hop social dance), and Rhythm Lounge parties featuring live rock and roll and rockabilly bands.

The studio is run by Stephan and Angela. Good public transport access and ample parking are both available.
