About this studio

SwingWerk is a 160 m² studio and event space on the Walzwerk-Areal in Münchenstein, home to the Tickle Toe Hep Cats, specialists in dances from the 1920s to 1950s. The studio offers a large mirror-fronted dance floor suited for classes, workshops, fitness sessions, theatre, concerts and private events.

The space includes a tea kitchen with coffee machine and glasses for a bar operation, large fridges, changing rooms, a shower and WC. A sound system with CD player, connections for laptop, mobile phone and record player supports live and recorded music. The room accommodates about 60 chairs and nearly 10 club and standing tables, plus 3 picnic bench sets. An elevated seating area in the mezzanine with couch and armchairs creates an industrial lounge atmosphere, and there is a separate storage room for course and workshop materials.

The Tickle Toe Hep Cats run regular courses, workshops and parties at SwingWerk. The space is available for studio rental on Monday and/or Wednesday evenings. Parking is plentiful via the central parking meter, and Tram 10 stops practically at the door (Walzwerk stop). The studio is available for hire for weddings, lectures, concerts and private events.

SwingWerk teaches swing, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop, along with Charleston, Boogie-Woogie, Strolls and Jazz. The studio hosts regular social dance parties throughout the year.
