About this studio

Orchard's Dance Studio teaches ballroom, Latin and New Vogue dancing in Coopers Plains, Brisbane. The studio runs beginner group classes on Mondays at 8pm, social dance classes on Fridays at 8pm, and over-50s classes on Wednesdays. Classes run in 6-week seasonal blocks, so you can start whenever a new term begins. They also offer technique classes throughout the week, private coaching, guided training on weekends, and kids' classes during school terms 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The studio is led by Peter and Rebecca Beardsley, QLD Professional Champions and National Finalists. Peter studied engineering and Rebecca teaches school; they met as teenagers learning ballroom in Brisbane, then spent nine years in England training under world-class teachers and competing internationally in Modern and Latin before retiring in 2015 to teach in Brisbane. Justin and Amy Sharrock are also core instructors—both Australian and QLD Professional Champions and Ten Dance World Representatives who specialise in Latin American.

Monday Foundations classes split into Beginners (8:00–8:45pm) and Intermediates (8:45–9:30pm), rotating through Cha Cha, Waltz, Samba, Tango, Rumba, Quickstep, Jive and Rhythm Foxtrot in different seasonal blocks. Fusion Friday (8:00–8:45pm, followed by social dancing 8:45–9:30pm) teaches one style per week—recently Rumba, New Vogue dances like Merrilyn and Lucille Waltz, and classic Ballroom. Wednesday daytime classes for over-50s run 10:30–11:15am (teaching) with social dancing 11:15–12:00pm at $15 per person.

The studio offers wedding dance lessons all week, with choreography tailored to any song at your skill level. Kids' classes cater for all ability levels in Latin, Ballroom and New Vogue; Under 8's and Social Classes teach basics and musicality, while Technique and Elite classes prepare for medal tests and competitions. Technique Group Classes and Drills & Technique focus on footwork, partnering, posture, position, movement and floorcraft, suitable for Intermediate and above with no partner required. Guided Training sessions build stamina and are popular with DanceSport competitors. Private ballroom lessons are available for singles through to groups.

The studio is a Registered Teaching Facility. Their social media presence is on Instagram @orchardsstudio. Classes are bookings essential for beginners.
