About this studio
Prisma Dance operates two locations in Honolulu—Kalihi on North King Street and Kailua in Aikahi Shopping Center—teaching ballet, lyrical jazz, acrobatics, and contemporary dance to children and teens. Founded in 2007 by Nicole Odera (Lam), the studio's name draws from the Latin word for prism, representing how a dancer's heart and body, when pure and transparent before God, can reflect the Holy Spirit's light through dance. The studio positions itself as Christ-centered, with a mission to help young dancers worship and glorify the Lord through movement while developing artistic excellence and character.
Classes are age-graded and open to both boys and girls. Ballet begins at age 3 (fully potty trained), lyrical jazz at age 6, and acrobatics at age 5.5. The studio offers pre-pointe and pointe work in its Amethyst Ballet level for students aged 11 and up, with readiness determined by instructor assessment of technical and physical development. Teacher training programmes are available for students aged 16 and older.
The instructional team includes Nicole Odera as school director and ballet genre leader; Micaiah Ganz as lyrical jazz genre leader; Jordan Herd as acro genre leader; and specialist instructors including Joanna Herd (ballet), Emma Lepore (ballet, pointe, and contemporary), and Ande Golden (conditioning). The studio also employs apprentice and assistant instructors, creating a structured pathway for emerging teachers.
Prisma runs an annual spring performance, original productions, and community outreach performances. A summer camp programme is offered, and the studio hosts a Diamond Programme (details on the website). The studio rents dance rooms and multipurpose space to recurring weekly users at $40–$45 per hour; the Kalihi location has two dance rooms (900 sq ft and 1200 sq ft) plus a multipurpose room (1000 sq ft), while Kailua has one dance room (900 sq ft). Both locations feature air conditioning, waiting areas for parents, and parking.
The studio operates year-round with holiday breaks listed on its calendar. New students register for a free trial class; placement is determined by instructor assessment within 1–2 business days. Prisma emphasizes affordable rates with financial help and payment plans available if needed, no long-term contracts, and support for military families. The studio partners with local charter schools and agencies including DHS to assist with tuition for foster children.

Prisma Dance was founded in 2007 when Nicole Odera (Lam) received the vision of a prism to represent a dancer's heart and body worshipping the Lord.
