About this studio

Radiance Dance Academy runs three dance studios across Brisbane: the Holland Park headquarters at 31–35 Roscoe Street on the southside, and two studios on the northside at Windsor (Presbyterian Church Hall, Corner Whish & Maygar Street) and Wilston (Grange Community Hall, 187 Wilston Road, corner Daisy Street).

Classes span Ballet, Jazz, Acrobatics (Acro), Contemporary, Lyrical and Hip Hop, with age-appropriate groups starting from tiny tots right through to adults. The academy trains under multiple syllabi: Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Queensland Ballet (Petit Pointers), Ballet Conservatoire (Vaganova), Comdance, Acrobatic Arts, International Dance Technique (IDT) and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT). Class numbers are intentionally capped to ensure individual attention and safe dance practice.

The academy offers several structured programs. The Tiny Tots Program combines ballet and jazz for preschool children. Classical Extension (Friday afternoons) and Elegance Part Time Classical Coaching (Mondays or Wednesdays during school hours) are elite programs for students with strong ability in classical ballet, directed by Ms Debra Whitten and Ms Lucy Christodoulou, who trained with Queensland Ballet company. Pre-pointe programs are available for dancers aged 10 and above. The Performance Team Program serves dancers aged 6 and up through 15 and under, performing at competitions, eisteddfods and community events. Dance Step Education and Transition Programs (7 years and above) are also available, with full-day programs for ages 11 and up.

Ballet students from primary through senior levels sit annual exams. Junior, Intermediate A & B and Senior ballet students must enrol in two ballet lessons per week to progress to pointe. The studio director is Miss Bonnie, with Miss Taylor heading the Tiny Tot Program and Miss Lyn managing accounts and studio operations.

Radiance holds 'Safe Dance for Kids' dance studio certification and emphasises a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment focused on building confidence, independence, creativity and self-expression. The academy describes itself as family-oriented and welcomes new students to book a trial lesson.
