About this studio
Reno Swings! is a swing dancing community centered on weekly Wednesday night dances at the American Legion Hall in Reno. They teach and host Swing, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, and Lindy Hop — rooted in vintage swing and blues dancing traditions.
The Wednesday night gatherings run at 7:00 PM and are open to dancers of various levels of experience. Reno Swings! positions itself as a welcoming entry point for people new to swing dancing, whether you're picking it up as a hobby, exploring music in a different way, or connecting to a piece of African-American history. The group is explicit that they are not world-class dancers, but rather a community space where you can find partners and build confidence alongside others.
Their philosophy centers on providing "a foundation and the tools for you to carve your own journey into the world of vintage swing dancing." They acknowledge the practical barriers to starting — not knowing how to begin, worrying about finding dance partners, or being unsure if it's something you'll stick with — and position their regular gatherings as a low-pressure way to answer those questions.
Reno Swings! also maintains a mailing list and promotes safer spaces as part of their community values. You can reach them by email or by phone.
