About this studio
Sactown Swings runs Northern California's longest running swing night, offering both group classes and regular social dances. The studio teaches across multiple swing styles: East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, Balboa, and Charleston.
Group classes meet at two locations. At The Ballroom of Sacramento (9500 Micron Ave), Monday classes run from 6:30 pm. In August, you can take Intermediate Collegiate Shag with Pat & Heather at 6:30, Intermediate Swing (6 count single step) with Johnny & Jessica at 7:15, or Beginning Charleston with Johnny at 8:00. September reshuffles the lineup with Beginning 6 Count Swing with Pat & Heather at 6:30, the same Intermediate Swing at 7:15, and Begintermediate Charleston with Johnny & Stacey at 8:00. Drop-in classes cost $10 per session.
At Sactown Swings @ Elks Lodge 6 (6446 Riverside Blvd), Monday classes focus on different styles. August offers Balboa Part 2 with Johnny & Stacey as a progressive series (4 weeks for $28 or $10 drop-in from 6:30–7:15), followed by Beginning 6 Count Swing with Johnny & Brooke from 7:15–8:00 (included with the nightly cover charge). September's first class slot is listed as TBD but runs 5 weeks for $35 or $10 drop-in, with Beginning 6 Count Swing returning afterwards.
Private lessons are available by contacting Johnny. The studio also hosts regular social dances at the Elks Lodge venue, where dancers can put what they've learned into practice. You can reach them by phone or text.
