About this studio
KAST Academy of the Arts was founded in 2010 by Keith and Summer Turk. The studio operates two divisions: a recreation program for dancers wanting flexible classes without major commitment, and a competitive division for college-bound and professional career-seeking dancers who train daily.
Classes span all ages starting at 2.5 years through advanced levels. The studio teaches ballet, hip-hop, tap, jazz, contemporary dance, tricks and acro, heels, character and theater jazz, and Tahitian and samba/Latin dance (coming soon). Ballet classes focus on technique, artistry, discipline, posture, flexibility and strength. Hip-hop and tricks classes develop rhythm, coordination and expression through hip-hop and break dance styles. Jazz and contemporary classes combine elements of jazz funk, ballet technique and character to emphasise versatility and artistic expression.
The schedule includes morning, evening and weekend options. Weekday classes run from 4:15pm to 8:15pm, with Saturday classes starting at 9:00am. The studio offers company-level training: Jr. Company and Tween Company on Mondays, Jr. Jazz Company on Wednesday, and Company sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Specialised classes include L.A. Hip Hop, Hood Hop (advanced), Adrenaline (fitness), Tech, Turns & Combo at various levels, and Tap Team.
The studio is described as professional but full of energy and fun, with a family-oriented approach focused on giving back to the community. Monthly packages and flexible scheduling accommodate different lifestyles. The studio also offers camps and auditions.
