About this studio

Sabor de Cuba teaches salsa dancing in the authentic Cuban style, known as Casino salsa. The school operates in two locations: Podium Mozaïek in Amsterdam (Bos en Lommerweg 191) and Dance Studio de Vos in Haarlem (Zijlweg 49). The teaching philosophy centers on connection, musicality and the genuine Cuban feeling — going beyond technique to help students feel the passion of the music.

Cuban salsa sits within a rich dance tradition. The school contextualises what students learn within that broader heritage: Son (the mother of salsa), Rumba, Chachachá, Mambo and Afro-Cuban folklore all inform the modern salsa style. What makes Cuban salsa distinct is its focus on Casino-style movement and authentic Cuban rhythm.

Classes are open to complete beginners. No experience is required — the school asks only for a smile and the willingness to move. Students can enroll in either location and work through the curriculum at their own pace. The school runs trial lessons in both cities to help newcomers try the style before committing.

Beyond regular classes, Sabor de Cuba hosts social events and workshops. The calendar includes Timba Salsa Nights and other gatherings that extend learning into real dance settings. Demonstration videos and instructor content show the energy and quality of the teaching.

The school is run by José (J.L. Pelayo Herrera) and can be reached by phone or email to discuss schedules, pricing and trial lessons.
