About this studio

Schramel Conservatory of Dance is the official school of New Orleans Ballet Theatre, Louisiana's premier ballet company. Founded alongside NOBT in 2002 by Gregory and Marjorie Schramel, the conservatory trains dancers at the highest level, offering year-round classes in ballet, tap, and contemporary dance for children of all ages and adults.

The school follows American Ballet Theatre guidelines for ballet training and dancer health. All teaching staff are classically trained dancers who have had careers in professional dance companies throughout the U.S. and internationally. The faculty includes Gregory Schramel, Marjorie Schramel, Katherine Hanson, Lisa Keller MacCurdy, Denise Oustalet, Drew Pearson, Maya Taylor, Kaylin Wilson, Oliver Halkowich, Danielle Belohlavy, Mary Wyatt Johnson, Lily Mangiaruga, Aubrey Morgan, and Jackson Rankin, among others.

The conservatory runs a Youth Program and Adult Division. Youth classes are enrolled on a semester basis, with the fall semester running from 24 August to 5 December 2026. Adult classes operate on a drop-in basis, available anytime throughout the semester. Classes range from beginner through advanced levels. Youth class protocols require students to be ready and dressed at drop-off time (no earlier than 15 minutes before class), with no late entry permitted. Teacher placement determines appropriate level for each student, regardless of age.

The studio operates from 920 Terpsichore Street in New Orleans. The school calendar follows a semester structure with fall and spring terms separated by winter break (7 December 2026 to 10 January 2027). Special offerings include a Summer Intensive, Mini Dance Camp, and the Emma Savoie Scholarship. Students have access to the professional performances of NOBT, including the 2026–2027 season featuring Dracula, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and New Works.
