About this studio

SP Dance Center opened in 2010 in Palermo, Buenos Aires, and has built a teaching roster across multiple dance styles. The studio welcomes dancers at every level—professionals, amateurs, beginners and advanced students, as well as children, teenagers and adults.

Classes span jazz (contemporary, modern jazz), ballet, hip-hop and urban styles, contemporary dance, stretching and elongation, and contact improvisation. For children, the studio offers movement initiation from age 3, ballet for ages 5–10, and modern jazz junior for ages 6–12. Jazz contemporary classes are available for teenagers, and adult classes cover most styles at beginner and intermediate/advanced levels.

The teaching staff includes Sole Pertino, Julieta Zabalza, Romi Marcovsky, Naty Royo and Silvina Alcayaga (jazz contemporary); Aye Velayos (hip-hop and urban styles); Carla He (ballet); Soledad Ortega (modern jazz junior); Matias Gallitelli, Luz Tripiana and Josefina Padilla (contemporary dance); and Marcos Chaves, who leads contemporary dance classes drawing on mixed techniques and physical training rooted in different movement studies.

Beyond regular classes, the studio runs monthly contact improvisation seminars—a contemporary dance technique based on physical contact and exploration between bodies—led by Fede Perez Gelardi on Saturday afternoons for 2 hours. Contact improvisation is open to dancers, actors, visual artists, movers and the general public. The studio also produces annual shows and workshops, offers intensive seminars with guest teachers, and maintains a video library including annual performance recordings and class reels.
