About this studio

Streetdance Center is a community of dancers and trainers dedicated to teaching hip-hop culture and competitive dance to children, teenagers and adults. Founded in 1999 as the vision of Josef Meilinger, the centre has grown into a platform where students explore the roots and values of hip-hop: respect, peace, love, music, having fun and empowerment. Since 2004, Mag. Michaela Eichhorn has led the association, and since 2012 Pia Grohmann joined as trainer, organiser and co-director.

Classes run across two main venues: ASKÖ Gnigl (Spiegelsaal) and Emailwerk. The schedule is dense and layered by level and age. Beginners can start in Breaking & Hip Hop Anfänger or Hip Hop Beginner classes; intermediate and advanced students have dedicated tracks. There are specialist courses in Dancehall, Commercial Choreo, Breaking & Hip Hop Kultur, and All Styles Groove. Kids' classes begin at age 6 with Breaking & Hip Hop Kids; youth and adults have their own progression.

The centre emphasises that each urban dance style is its own movement language with specific groove, vocabulary, rhythm and cultural context. Beyond choreography classes, the studio offers free open-floor sessions where students can freestyle, cypher and learn from each other—a core part of hip-hop practice. Competition training and crew membership (Roonity Competitioncrew, Powersquad, Uneakz Competition Crew) are by invitation.

The Style Collective Crew is the professional show group, performing styles ranging from hip-hop and breakdance to locking, popping, house, modern, acrobatics and theatre. The centre runs workshops, shows, battles (Meisterschaften) and events including Jamming Vol. 13 and level-up. A social media team established in 2024 keeps the community connected.
