About this studio
Studio BAILA occupies a storied location in the Golden Melon House (Dům U Zlatého Melounu) on Michalská, steps from Prague's Old Town Square. The building's dance history stretches back to 1828, when Hynek Link opened a famous dance school here. His son Karel Link continued the tradition, and the venue hosted the first Taneční beseda in the Czech Republic. The house became a gathering place for notable figures: the writer Jan Neruda met his future wife Anna Golinova here, and later in the 1860s it hosted a piano rental store and music salons frequented by composers including Anton Rubinstein, Hans von Bülow, Petr Čajkovskij, Otakar Ševčík, Sergej Rachmaninov and Edvard Grieg. The building is officially recognized as a cultural heritage monument.
Studio BAILA teaches body ballet, barre, stretching, stretching yoga, sacral dance and wedding dance. All class programmes are created and developed by Anastasia Zhukova, the founder and head of the studio. The studio describes its approach as copyrighted and individual to each student—technique execution is monitored carefully, with personal recommendations adjusted to each person's capabilities. Harmful elements are excluded from all programmes to keep them safe and effective for all levels.
The studio runs a rotating three-month programme cycle. Every quarter the musical accompaniment, load, movements, exercises, themes and mood change to reflect the season, allowing students to master material, see results, then progress to the next level with new ligaments, movements and dance elements.
