About this studio
Swing Studio 22 is a sports association dedicated to swing culture and teaching in Florence. Weekly classes, workshops, and individual or group lessons run for adults, teenagers and children across multiple swing styles. The studio hosts social dances, competitive training, cultural events and two major festivals each year: Keep On Swingin in January and The Blues' Timing in March.
The school teaches Lindy Hop (danced to slow and fast swing rhythms as a predominantly couple dance), Boogie Woogie (couple dance emphasising improvisation and musicality), Blues (simple, popular couple dance connected to the music and its interpretation), Balboa (couple dance with sliding elegance, even at very fast tempos), Solo Jazz (combining tap dance, charleston and other forms), and Tap Dance (an art form made famous by Broadway). Three-month trimester courses dive deeper into specific topics across different disciplines and experience levels. The studio also runs wellness courses including Pilates 22 and Stretch & Mobility.
The spaces have been carefully designed: large rooms, parquet floors, mirrors, changing rooms and relaxation areas. The studio positions itself not just as a dance school but as a community hub and gathering place built around swing music, history and culture. Free trial lessons run in mid-September for beginners, and under-25s receive a special promotion on course registration.
International teachers lead the major festivals, which feature dance camps, evening socials, competitions and shows. Summer evening dances run regularly. A reserved online area lets members sign up for courses, attend events and stay updated on news.
