About this studio

Tanzquartier Köln operates two dance studios in Cologne's Südstadt neighbourhood, serving children, teenagers and adults across a wide range of styles. The team prioritises individual student needs and development, with a philosophy that dancing brings happiness.

For children, the studio offers Kinderballett (preschool age onwards), Modern Kindertanz, Jazzdance, Hip Hop, and a Förderstufe (support group with limited numbers for dedicated young dancers). Teenagers can study ballet at beginner and advanced levels, with entry possible at any time, plus intensive ballet, jazz-dance, modern dance, K-Pop and contemporary. Adults have access to ballet for beginners and experienced dancers, modern ballet, modern dance, jazz-dance, and contemporary classes.

The two locations differ in size: Studio Annostraße is a 90 square metre column-free, light-filled dance hall with a joint-protecting sprung floor and welcoming reception area. Studio Elsaßstraße is larger at 120 square metres, also column-free and bright. Both studios are equipped with certified HEPA14 air purifiers.

Special programmes exist for talented and committed students. The Ballett-Intensiv courses run multiple times per week and aim to build a solid foundation in classical dance technique, preparing students for professional dance training. Intensiv workshops run during the summer holidays—a mid-level Ballett & Contemporary workshop ran from 24–28 August. The studio also hosts events, projects and performances where students can showcase what they have learned.

A trial lesson (Probestunde) can be booked before committing to a course, with advance registration required at least 24 hours beforehand. A flat-rate subscription allows attendance at multiple classes per week across both studios. Mid-month enrolment is possible, with costs calculated proportionally from the point of trial lesson onwards. Courses run in term time with reduced schedules during school holidays, except Christmas and statutory holidays.
