About this studio
The Ballroom of Nashville teaches ballroom and Latin dance at all levels from the ground up. The studio offers American Rhythm (Cha Cha, Bolero, Swing, Rumba and Mambo), American Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz), International Latin (Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive), International Standard (Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep), Social dances (Salsa, Merengue, West Coast, Bachata, Argentine Tango), and Country dances (Two Step, Night Club, Country Waltz, Triple Two, Polka, Cha Cha, West/East Coast Swing). You can take private lessons at $85 per lesson with no contracts—pay as you go, whenever you want.
The studio is led by Christopher Wayne, who started dancing at age six in Johannesburg, South Africa, became the under 16 Latin American Champion and Under 18 Male Tap Dance Champion, and moved to the US in 1999. He competed professionally in American Rhythm and American Smooth and 9-Dance, retiring as a United States Professional 9-Dance finalist with his partner Mallory Evan. His competitive students consistently win major competitions across all ballroom styles from newcomer through advanced/open levels. Mallory Evan, a California native and classically trained dancer, specializes in all competitive ballroom styles, Latin social dances and swing. She was selected to dance at the Super Bowl Pregame and Halftime shows and is a US Open Swing Dance Championship Cabaret division finalist.
Other instructors include Michael Hosale, a Nashville native who has been competing, coaching and training students for almost 30 years and teaches all four styles of dancing. Juanita Simanekova has been teaching Ballroom and Latin dance in the Nashville area since 2008 and coaches the Vanderbilt ballroom dance team. Sean Lyons competed in International Latin representing Argentina and studied the roots of Latin dancing in Cuba. JT Thomas is a two-time US and World Smooth Champion with a BFA in dance from the University of Arizona who coaches all styles of partnership dancing. Kalai Myrick has achieved 4 Dvida teaching certifications and volunteers to run the Otter Creek Swing dances monthly. Additional instructors include Jack Gardner, Laynee Day, and Tim Taylor.
The studio is open 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM seven days a week, located at 4928 Edmondson Pike Unit 107, south of Downtown Nashville and quickly accessible from I-65 and I-24. Wedding couples can book the Wedding Dance Special at $399 for 5 lessons. The studio also sells dresses and offers gift certificates. All dance instructors are personable and fully certified to teach dancing at all levels.

Owner Christopher Wayne began dancing at age six in Johannesburg, South Africa, and moved to the US in 1999, establishing himself as one of the top ballroom dance teachers in the country. He has been a featured professional dancer for the Nashville charity event Dancing for Safe Haven since 2009.
