About this studio
The Hive Ballroom teaches ballroom and Latin dance in Tampa, Florida. The studio was formally known as Easidance Ballroom and has served the community for over 20 years. It is run by co-owners Lina Mambella and John Campbell, who together bring over 40 years of combined ballroom dance instruction experience.
Lina Mambella started ballroom dancing at age 15 after nine years of ballet. She grew up in Pescara, Italy, and moved to the US in 2014. While in Italy, she trained with top European coaches and competed in major ballroom dance competitions including The Blackpool Dance Festival, The Italian Open, The German Open, The UK, and The International. She collected multiple regional titles in Italy and across Europe, was a multiple-time Italian National Finalist, and was a member of the Italian National Championship-winning Latin Formation team. Lina became a Senior Instructor at Easidance Ballroom after moving to Florida in 2020 and became co-owner in 2023. She specializes in wedding dance choreography and works with students of all levels, particularly developing styling and follower techniques.
John Campbell is a former Manchester England International Standard competitor who moved to the USA in 2012. He worked in Stamford, Connecticut for eight years, where he became certified in the Dance Vision syllabus and guided students to achievements including finalist and champion status in the prestigious United States National Championships. In his professional competitive career, John competed in the Professional American Smooth division, collecting numerous RS and Open Regional Titles, placing 3rd in the United States RS final, and being crowned Fred Astaire World Rising Star Champion, with a ranking in the top 12 competitors in the United States. He became senior instructor at Easidance Ballroom in 2020 and co-owner in 2023.
The studio teaches all styles associated with ballroom and Latin dance: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, and Hustle. The Hive caters to all levels from absolute beginners to US Champions. It offers private lessons tailored to individual needs, group classes for learning new steps and socializing, kids private lessons, and custom wedding dance choreography. The studio features sprung flooring, full-length mirrors, and climate control. Hours are Monday to Friday 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm; the studio is closed Saturday and Sunday.
