About this studio
The Hop Bangkok is a dance school and jazz club founded in 2012, located at 252 8 Si Lom Rd in Bang Rak. It's a dual-purpose space: by day a teaching studio for swing and jazz dance, by night a venue for social dancing set to live jazz music and crafted cocktails with vintage vibes.
Classes run from beginner to advanced across partner and solo styles. Partner dances include Lindy Hop (described as playful, full of swing and bounce, born in Harlem in the 1930s), Charleston (fast, rhythmic, high-energy partner or solo dance from the jazz age), Balboa (smooth and elegant, emerged in Southern California in the 1930s, suited to fast tempos and tight spaces), Collegiate Shag (high-energy partner dance with rhythm and kicks), and Blues (slow, soulful, rooted in African American music and culture, focused on connection). Solo classes teach Solo Jazz (rhythm made visible, exploring classic footwork and improvisation) and Tap (described as feet becoming your instrument, groove-driven and meditative).
Social nights happen every Tuesday and Saturday, featuring jazz music, crafted cocktails, and vintage vibes in what the studio describes as Bangkok's only swing-era jazz bar. The studio also hosts the Bangkok Tap Festival and an event called Diga Diga Doo.
The space features high-quality wooden floors and a high-end sound system. Studio rental is available for private dance lessons, yoga and movement classes, corporate retreats, private parties, wedding choreography and shows, product launches, and film and photo shoots. No prior dance experience is required to join classes, and you can sign up alone — the studio pairs you with other dancers in class. Arrive 15 minutes before class starts and wear flat-soled shoes for your first visit.
