About this studio
ZoukLab is a Brazilian Zouk dance school in Antwerpen that operates as what its founders call a 'creative laboratory'. The studio was founded to create a platform for dancers of all levels to build strong foundations, explore musicality, and be part of a welcoming community. With over 7 years of experience, 200+ happy dancers, and 50+ events organized, the school has built a reputation for depth over breadth — groups are kept intentionally smaller to ensure high-quality learning, personalized feedback, and deeper connections with students.
The teaching staff consists of Bojana (founder and teacher from Montenegro), Lukáš (teacher from the Czech Republic), and Ellen (community builder). Bojana began dancing competitively in ballroom at age 12 and started teaching at 17. She discovered Brazilian Zouk at 25 after moving to Belgium and founded ZoukLab to share her passion through technique-focused, personalized teaching. Lukáš has explored partner dancing since age 15 across ballroom, swing, Latin, and tango before falling in love with Zouk seven years ago. His background as a classically trained pianist since age six enriches his teaching with deep musical understanding, helping students connect movement to rhythm and phrasing. The two met at a dance festival in Poland two years ago and have been teaching together ever since. Ellen, who discovered Brazilian dance in 2023, joined as community builder and now helps with promotion and online platforms.
The curriculum spans three levels. Level 1 (Essentials) teaches basic movement vocabulary including the Basic step, Viradinha, Lateral, Lunge, Simple turn, Elstico, Yo-yo, Bonus, Reversed Bonus, Soltinho, and Gostosinho, with focus on movement quality, partner connection, body awareness, and community integration including attending first Zouk socials. Level 2 (Fundamentals) expands vocabulary and introduces body isolations, head movements, various turning techniques, and deeper musicality concepts. Students typically remain at this level for approximately 1.5 to 2 years as it takes up to two years to complete the full curriculum. The studio works in blocks of 3 classes per topic: the first focuses on technique exercises, the second explores vocabulary and how to use the technique in moves, and the third integrates technique and moves into your dance with variations. Level 3 (Invitational Lab) is an invitation-only space for devoted dancers committed to mastery, operating as a hybrid between regular classes and guided training sessions where specific topics are explored deeply across multiple sessions.
Beyond regular weekly classes, ZoukLab offers private lessons tailored to specific goals, bootcamps and weekenders with international guest teachers, open-level classes and social dance nights where all levels come together, choreography projects and performance teams, and socials including the monthly ZoukLab Social. Recent events include the Weekender with Ilse and Italo on 14–15 November 2026, the ZoukLab Social on 5 December 2026, and the ZoukLab Flashmob Summer Project 2026 (20 September). Founded by Bojana from Montenegro, who discovered Brazilian Zouk at 25 after moving to Belgium and decided to create a platform where dancers could build strong foundations and feel at home. She met her teaching partner Lukáš from the Czech Republic at a dance festival in Poland two years ago, and they have been teaching together at ZoukLab in Antwerpen ever since.
