Simone Cané

Simone Cané is an Italian DanceSport specialist whose career spans competitive partnership, international adjudication, and the development of a major training center. He represented Italy with partner Elena Girella at the 1997 International Ballroom Dancing Championships at Royal Albert Hall, competing in the Amateur Modern field at one of the discipline's historic venues.

Cané's competitive background in Ten Dance—the full spectrum of both Standard and Latin disciplines—informed his later work as a judge. The World DanceSport Federation issued him a General Adjudicator license on 1 April 2006, authorizing him to evaluate Latin, Standard, Ten Dance, and corresponding Professional Division events. Between 2011 and 2018, he served on adjudication panels at major competitions including the 2013 WDSF GrandSlam in Shanghai, the 2015 World Ten Dance Senior II Championship in Nice, and numerous International Opens across Europe and beyond.

From his base in Bologna, Cané became director of Paladanze Bologna, a 1,000-square-meter training complex with a 400-square-meter event hall and additional studios. The school's pedagogical approach reflects his own movement philosophy: the "Mini-Accademia" program was conceived to give competitive dancers preparation beyond step execution, connecting technique to the broader judgment criteria he had learned to apply. Through Paladanze, Cané has worked as technical and artistic director, choreographer, and organizer of training camps and championships, translating his understanding of Ten Dance breadth into an institutional resource for dancers.
