About this studio
Aloha Ballroom Company teaches ballroom dance to non-dancers across the Hawaiian Islands. Founded in January 2024 by Tony Meredith, a U.S. Professional Latin Champion and world-renowned choreographer, the studio operates by appointment only from 770 Kapiolani Blvd in Honolulu, near the Ala Moana neighbourhood.
The company offers instruction in Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Merengue, Swing, Salsa, Cha Cha, Argentine Tango, Bachata, Paso Doble, Hustle, Samba, Rumba, Bolero, Mambo and Country dancing. All instructors are certified professionals trained in the studio's system, which centres on five simple basic movements from which new combinations are derived.
Tony Meredith founded the studio after over 40 years in the dance industry. Originally from Samoa, he lived in Hawaii from age four to twelve, later moved to San Diego at nineteen to pursue ballroom dance, and has worked internationally with choreography credits for Madonna and Celine Dion. He holds a national ballroom title and returned to Hawaii to establish Aloha Ballroom Company.
The studio's approach is designed for complete beginners. You do not need to bring a partner—your instructor will partner with you during lessons. The studio promises you can begin ballroom dancing after your first lesson, though progression depends on how many dances you wish to learn and your desired proficiency level. Classes are scheduled by appointment to meet your availability.
Aloha Ballroom Company offers an Introductory Special of two 30-minute private lessons for $129, designed for first-time students. After your first lesson, instructors recommend a personalised programme based on your goals.
The studio also runs social events, including a Showcase scheduled for Sunday, June 28 at the Marriott Waikiki, and offers wedding couple packages for those preparing for their dance.
