About this studio
Andover School of Ballet, established over 45 years ago in downtown Andover, Massachusetts, teaches dance to students from 18 months through adult. The studio is located at 14 Park Street, second floor, and has earned recognition as a Best of Andovers 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 top dance school.
Classes span classical ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and modern dance. Children begin in age-appropriate levels—Rhythm & Movement for 18 months to 3+ years (with a parent or caregiver), followed by Early Childhood classes for ages 3–7 including Kinderdance, Primary Dance with Tap levels 1–3, and then Classical Ballet and other styles from age 7 onwards. Ballet students who progress to Level 3 and beyond can train for demi-pointe and pointe shoes if recommended by their teacher. All children's classes are leveled by experience to ensure appropriate instruction for each student's development.
Adult classes offer ongoing open registration with no specific dress code. Both Elementary (beginner) and Intermediate/Advanced ballet classes are available year-round. The studio also offers special "pop-up" mini series in jazz, modern/contemporary dance, and Stretch & Strengthen.
The school year runs from Wednesday, September 9, 2026, through Monday, June 7, 2027. Each class meets 34 times during the school year, with make-up classes available if missed. The studio holds open registration throughout fall and winter, though consistent attendance for the entire school year is recommended for best progress. Summer programming includes week-long morning Fairy Tale Dancers programs for ages 3.9–7.9, week-long Summer DanceWEEK for grades 2–6, weekly summer classes for ages 8–18+, summer adult classes, and summer master classes with guest teachers.
The ASB Dance Company is a non-competitive teen performance group that performs about 5 times per year in various venues, with a season culminating show each March. Master classes and workshops throughout the year feature guest teachers such as Sue Casey Murray (Lyrical Jazz) and Kiley Corcoran (Theater Jazz, an ASB alumna now based in NYC).
The studio emphasizes that dance training enhances grace, coordination, rhythm, and physical strength while fostering creativity and artistry. Students develop self-confidence, a sense of accomplishment, and learn respect and strong work habits. The professional faculty is highly trained and carefully selected for their abilities, knowledge, and experience teaching dance to children and adults.
What to expect
Your first visit
Classes run year-round during school-year hours (Monday–Friday 4:00 pm–7:30 pm, Saturday 9:00 am–2:30 pm, September–June), with summer sessions early June to early August. Your first class may focus on fundamentals appropriate to your age and experience level, whether that's Rhythm & Movement with a parent, an Early Childhood class with creative play, or a ballet technique class emphasizing barre, center floor, and traveling combinations.
