About this studio
Derby City Ballroom Dance Studios is owned and managed by Jani and Viktoria Szukk, world-class competitive dancers whose credentials include World Latin Formation Dance Finalist in Norway 1993, six-time Undefeated Hungarian National Latin Champion, and multiple American Rhythm Champions titles. Their students have won the Hungarian National Latin Championship, American 9 Dance National Championship, North American Latin Championship, and World Pro/Am Championship.
The studio teaches ballroom, Latin, social, and wedding dancing, with lessons available in over 20 partner dance styles. These include the smooth dances (Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz), rhythm dances (Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Mambo, Bolero), and international ballroom dances (Quickstep, Paso Doble, Samba, Jive). They also offer club-style Latin including Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue, plus country, swing, and wedding-specific instruction.
The studio's teaching method combines three elements: private dance lessons providing personalised one-on-one attention, group classes where students learn variety and how to lead or follow any partner, and regular practice dance parties where students practise before heading into social settings, with instructors on hand to dance with and assist. Singles take lessons one-on-one; couples and singles are both welcome in group classes.
Jani and Viktoria specialise in adult beginners and have taught several hundred dancers from across the United States and Europe throughout their careers. The studio emphasises that learning to dance should be fun and easy, with no "cookie-cutter" approach—instructors teach at your pace and in the way you learn. The dance studio floors are beautifully maintained, and modern dance music and sound equipment of the best quality are provided. Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend dance lessons are available.

Your first visit
Your first visit begins with an introductory private lesson where your instructor introduces you to the dances, discusses your goals, and helps you put together a plan. You'll be in a one-on-one setting (for singles) or with your partner, focusing on the right steps and technique in a fun, family-oriented environment.
