Ballroom Impact Atlanta

Ballroom Impact Atlanta teaches ballroom, International Latin, Swing, Salsa, Bachata, Argentine Tango, American Smooth, Rhythm, and wedding choreography. The studio serves adults and kids, couples and singles, from absolute beginners to competitive dancers. Owner Katya Cooper opened the studio in 2016 and brings a distinguished competitive pedigree: she began ballroom training at age four in Russia, went on to win numerous titles in Latin, Standard, and Ten Dance events, and became Midwest Latin and Standard champion with partner Anton Sidorov. The pair placed fourth in Smooth at the 2013 USA National Championships and advanced to the Las Vegas round of America's Got Talent. Katya's students consistently place in the top three at major competitions, including Nationals. In 2022, her Juvenile students became semifinalists at the prestigious Blackpool Festival. She returned to competitive dancing in 2023 with partner Maxi Panesi, achieving multiple podium finishes including 1st at Smokey Mountain and Heritage Classic Championships, and 2nd at Grand Nationals Championships.

The instructor team brings deep experience across all styles. Jeanne Sharbuno has competed for over 27 years as an amateur and professional in American and International styles at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, achieving Top Student recognition. She now devotes her teaching to Social Ballroom Dancing. Oscar de Lima is a recognized Argentine Tango specialist who has been involved in several Latin dances since moving to Atlanta in 2007 and is also a highly regarded Argentine Tango DJ. Olga Kormanovskya, born in Kazakhstan, began ballet at age five and ballroom and Latin at fourteen. She competed professionally across the United States, winning East Coast Champion titles (1997, 1998, 1999, 2001), US Rising Star Champion (1998), Philadelphia Dancesport Champion (1999, 2000, 2001), Manhattan Dancesport Champion (2000, 2001), and Canadian Open to the World Champion (2001). She later partnered with Louis Van Amstel to become 2003 Ohio Star Ball Champion. Katya Cooper's instructors each bring 10+ years of teaching experience, with many being current or former competitive dancers.

Classes run throughout the week at varying levels. Adult group classes include Salsa/Bachata Mix (Mondays, 7:00–7:55 PM, no partner needed), Social Ballroom Latin with Jeanne Sharbuno (Tuesdays, 6:30–7:30 PM, beginners welcome), Argentine Tango with Oscar de Lima (Wednesdays, 7:00–8:00 PM, any level), International Latin with Katya Cooper (Thursdays, 6:30–7:30 PM, Bronze level and higher, covering Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive), International Standard with Katya Cooper (Thursdays, 7:30–8:30 PM, Bronze level and higher, covering Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep), Social Ballroom Smooth with Jeanne Sharbuno (Saturdays, 10:00–11:00 AM, beginners welcome, covering Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot), American Smooth with Katya Cooper (Saturdays, 4:00–5:00 PM, for dancers with some experience, covering Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz), and International Latin with Olga Kormanovskaya (Sundays, 5:00–6:00 PM, Bronze level and up, covering Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive).

The kids programme includes beginner group classes for ages 3–9 (Mondays 5:45–6:45 PM, Wednesdays 6:00–7:00 PM, Sundays 11:00 AM–12:00 PM for ages 2–3, Sundays 12:00–1:00 PM for ages 4–7), intermediate classes for ages 7–12 (Mondays 6:15–7:15 PM, Wednesdays 6:00–7:00 PM, Sundays 1:00–3:00 PM), and advanced classes for ages 12–18 (Tuesdays 5:30–7:30 PM, Sundays 10:00 AM–12:00 PM). Young dancers develop rhythm, movement, and basic ballroom styles through age-appropriate instruction, building coordination, musicality, confidence, posture, and strength. Students have opportunities to participate in regional, national, and international competitions, showcases, and performances.

Wedding lessons are personalised to your music, style, and experience level, helping couples feel comfortable, confident, and prepared for their first dance. Private lessons for weddings are $95 for 45 minutes, or $850 for a package of ten. The studio is also available for rental for private parties, corporate events, workshops, celebrations, and special occasions. With spacious dance floors and an elegant atmosphere, it can accommodate both intimate gatherings and larger events. Drop in for a group class tailored to your level: adults pay $15–20 per session, and many classes (like Salsa/Bachata on Mondays) need no partner. Classes are taught by instructors with 10+ years of experience and many are current or former competitive dancers. The environment is welcoming and fun.

Multiple beginner-focused group classes are available, and many require no prior experience or partner.
