About this studio

Chelsea's School of Dance, located in Eastwood Plaza in Akron, Ohio, has been voted #1 Dance Lessons in the Akron Area three years in a row. The studio serves dancers aged 3 and up, with dedicated age groups: Tiny Team (3–5), Mini Team (6–8), Petite Team (9–11), Junior Team (12+), and Adult Classes for ages 18+.

All age levels study tap, jazz/hip hop, ballet, and acro. The studio emphasizes a safe environment with age-appropriate costuming and choreography. Chelsea Sprankle, founder and owner, has been teaching a multitude of dance styles for over 10 years. She began her own dance career at age two, trained at D.C. Dance & Gym, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship from Kent State University. She is a Dance Master's of America certified instructor and certified through the Cecchetti Council of America for grades 1–3 of Cecchetti Ballet. Chelsea has attended many dance conventions and studied tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, acro, baton, and musical theater. For many years she has been teaching and creating award-winning choreography at the regional and national level.

Assistant Instructor Marissa Kartler began her dance career at age two and has studied at several dance studios including Miller South School for the Visual & Performing Arts. She attended the University of Akron where she studied Physical Therapy, Social Media Managing, and Dance, and has trained in tap, jazz, modern, ballet, pointe, contemporary, and choreography.

Classes run Monday to Thursday, with hours 4:30 pm–6:30 pm on Monday, 4:15 pm–7:45 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 4:30 pm–7:45 pm on Thursday. The studio enrolls for its recital season and offers Free Dance Days at the start of each season, allowing prospective students to try any class for free with no commitment. Drop-in trials are also available for recital program classes. Adult classes (Tap, Ballet, and Jazz Funk) are beginner-friendly and are offered for season enrollment or drop-in; recital performance is optional. The studio operates a Parent Portal where students can view classes, tuition, and upcoming events.
