About this studio

Dance On Main is a 5,000 sq ft ballroom studio on the second floor of downtown Rochester, owned and operated by Bryan and Mari Bowen. Mari is a professional dance instructor with 15+ years experience and a highly ranked dancesport competitor; Bryan is a military veteran and professional musician. Together they've created a studio known for hosting some of the state's biggest Big Band Dance Events and studio parties.

The studio teaches American Smooth, American Rhythm, Swing and Latin club dances across a wide range of styles and levels. The syllabus covers Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, American Tango, Argentine Tango, Quickstep, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Nightclub Slow, Nightclub 2 Step, Country 2 Step, Rumba, Bolero, Cha Cha, Samba, Mambo, Jive, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia and Paso Doble, from social dance through advanced and Novice through Gold levels. They also specialise in wedding choreography, dance teams, performances and competitions.

The dance floor is the same type used on Dancing With The Stars. Instructors are described by students as award-winning professionals who bring their own unique style to each dance while allowing student personality and individuality to shine. The studio's atmosphere is professional yet easy-going, and the owners know many students by name.

Beyond private lessons, the studio hosts Friday Night Dance Parties on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month from 7:30–10:00pm, with separate beginner and intermediate group lessons at 7:30 followed by open dancing. The studio also runs Zumba classes on Saturday mornings at 10:00am, Strength & Stillness Yoga on Sunday mornings at 9:00am, and regularly scheduled group lesson series. All events are open to the public; no membership required. The studio was voted Best of Michigan 2026 in the Dance Studio/School/Instructors category.

What to expect

Your first visit

Call or text to schedule. Private lessons are 45 minutes, available Mon–Fri 3–9pm, Saturday 9am–2pm, Sunday 9am–2pm, or by request. Arrive 10 minutes early to change shoes. The studio is on the 2nd floor above Hepplewhite's; parking and entrance are in the back next to O'Connor's.

Each brings their own unique style to teaching, and the studio emphasises that great dancing is taught by great instructors—not by gender—with every team member professionally trained equally in both lead and follow roles.

Private lessons available in 5- or 10-packs or à la carte; call for details. Semi-private (3–6 people): $170/lesson; (7–10): $260/lesson; (11–14): $330/lesson.
