About this studio
Dance Vision opened in Johnston, Iowa in 2003 with the mission of providing professional dance training for students of all ages and abilities in the Des Moines metro area. The studio serves dancers from 12 months old through adults, with programmes designed to match different levels of commitment and experience.
For young children aged 12 months to 6 years, Dance Vision offers summer classes that introduce movement and a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and tumbling. These classes focus on building coordination, confidence, and creativity in a supportive environment. For older children and teens, the studio runs fall studio classes across preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school levels, with both recital-only classes and non-recital technique classes. Summer drop-in classes for ages 6–18 run from July 6 through August 13, offering beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels across multiple styles with no long-term commitment required.
Dance Vision runs a structured competition programme for dancers ready to commit to higher-level training. The Pre Team is designed for ages 4–6 and introduces young dancers to competitive performance, with participants competing at 2–3 local competitions per year in jazz and tap. The Competition Level serves dancers of ages 5–18 across all ability ranges and styles, competing at 3–5 local competitions per year and attending conventions for exposure to different instructors and choreography. The studio emphasises teamwork, discipline, confidence, and work ethic alongside technique and artistry.
Adult recreational classes are also offered. Adult Hip Hop, open to all experience levels from first-time dancers to advanced, focuses on learning choreography, building confidence, and enjoying the energy of dancing in a welcoming environment. The class runs Wednesday evenings with flexible pricing: a single class costs £18 or a 3-class pass costs £45.
The studio also offers Aerial Arts classes and hosts birthday parties. Throughout the year, Dance Vision brings in guest artists and master classes to expose dancers to different techniques and inspiration they might not encounter locally. Fall studio registration includes a one-time £40 registration fee, and the studio uses the Glofox and JackRabbit platforms for scheduling and management.
