About this studio
Escola de Dança Sabor Latino was founded in Porto in 1995 as a pioneering project in Latin-American dance education in Portugal. The school was created by Graça Pinto, its founder and director, drawing on her own South American and African heritage and her journey through the Caribbean and Cuba. The school's mission combines intense artistic activity with pedagogical focus on genuine rhythms of popular Latin-American dances.
The studio teaches a comprehensive range of styles across three studios in Porto (Rua Oliveira Monteiro, 181) and a location in São Mamede de Infesta (Rua 5 de Outubro, 5054). Classes span Latin dances (Bachata, Salsa, Merengue, Cha-cha-cha, Salsa Cubana), African styles (Kizomba, Semba, Funaná, Kuduro), Flamenco, Sevilhanas, Tango, Dança do Ventre, Hip-Hop, K-Pop, Contemporâneo, Street Salsa, Sensual Movement, Stretching, and specialised technique classes. The school also offers Move 80's, Ritmos +50 (for over-50s), and programmes for children including Baby Class and Level-Up.
Classes are structured for all ages and ability levels—from complete beginners through to advanced dancers. The school's teaching method, known as the "Sabor Latino method", is delivered by specialist instructors including André Almeida, Helena Mafalda, Francisca Durão, and Anibal José, alongside Graça Pinto. The school emphasises that no prior dance experience is necessary to enrol.
Beyond regular classes, Sabor Latino organises dance performances and special events throughout the year where students can perform and demonstrate their progress. The school also provides corporate event services—integrating dance into companies to strengthen team spirit, improve communication, and foster collaborative environments. For brand activations and promotional events, they deliver custom performances designed to capture attention and create memorable interactions. Additionally, they create bespoke dance performances for weddings and special occasions, handling everything from concept to final presentation.
