About this studio

Fred Astaire Dance Studio opened in Austin in 2014, bringing the Fred Astaire teaching system to the area. The studio's owners have extensive training in Ballroom, Swing, Ballet, Latin, Jazz and Modern dancing, and aim to provide the best customer service and quality of instruction.

The studio teaches the full range of American, Latin-American, International and Exhibition/Theater Arts styles. You can learn Argentine Tango, Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Hustle, Jive, Mambo, Merengue, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz and West Coast Swing. The Fred Astaire curriculum covers social dancing favorites like Salsa, Merengue, Hustle and Swing, as well as classic Ballroom dances and Latin-American styles. For competitive dancers, the studio offers Pro-Am instruction and opportunities to compete in Regional, Inter-Regional, National and International dance competitions.

Lessons take three forms: private instruction tailored to your pace, group classes covering a wide variety of dances and topics, and practice sessions in a party-like atmosphere where you apply what you've learned. The teaching philosophy is straightforward—learning ballroom dance is always fun. You'll be on your way to confident dancing by the end of your first lesson. Beginners and singles are welcome; if you come without a partner, your instructor will dance with you in private lessons, and group classes and practice sessions let you meet other students.

The studio specialises in wedding dance instruction, offering everything from a simple first dance to fully choreographed routines for the bridal party. They work with couples, parents and wedding parties, and recommend starting lessons at least 5–6 months before the wedding. An introductory offer gives new students 2 private lessons and 1 group lesson for $99. Beyond that, pricing is tailored to individual goals and budgets. The studio serves Austin and surrounding communities including Bastrop, Bee Caves, Buda, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Kyle, Killeen, Lago Vista, Lakeway, Leander, Liberty Hill, Round Rock, San Marcos and others.
