About this studio
Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Chicago's Lakeview neighbourhood teaches ballroom, Latin, Smooth, Rhythm and Swing dancing to students of all ages and abilities. The studio is part of the Fred Astaire franchise, which has operated since 1947 with a mission to enrich lives physically, mentally, emotionally and socially through dance.
The studio offers a curriculum covering the full range of ballroom dances including Argentine Tango, Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Hustle, Jive, Mambo, Merengue, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz and West Coast Swing. Teaching methods combine private lessons, group classes and practice parties to help students learn as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. The studio's teaching philosophy centres on making learning fun, with instructors using a progressive system and a unique trophy system to help students track progress and build confidence.
Staff include Natalie (studio owner and certified professional dance instructor in all styles), Johnny (dance instructor since 2015, competitor in rhythm styles) and Sabrina (kids dance instructor). Instructors are described as gifted educators from around the world, many with Fine Arts degrees and active competition experience. All are certified in the Fred Astaire Curriculum.
The studio specializes in wedding dance programmes, offering customized instruction from first dances to full wedding party choreography. Wedding packages range from 4 to 12 private lessons with included group classes and choreography. The studio also runs guest parties, showcases, spotlights, community outreach events, coaching sessions and group outings. Students have access to regional, national and international Pro-Am and professional dance competitions.
The studio is conveniently located in Lakeview, serving Boystown, Lincoln Park, Lakeview East, West Lakeview, Wrigleyville and the Southport corridor. All lessons are by appointment.

Your first visit
Your first visit includes a 30-minute private session with an instructor to learn basic steps and discuss your goals, followed by a chance to dance to popular social dances during a group class or social party. You can come alone or with a partner.
