About this studio

Fred Astaire Dance Studios Glenn Heights teaches ballroom, Latin, smooth, rhythm, and swing styles to students of all ages and experience levels. The studio's mission, dating to 1947, is to enhance lives physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially through dance.

You can learn waltz, foxtrot, tango, and Viennese waltz in the ballroom category; cha-cha, rumba, samba, paso doble, and jive in Latin-American styles; and Argentine tango, bolero, East Coast swing, hustle, mambo, merengue, quickstep, salsa, and West Coast swing across the full range. The studio offers instruction for both social and competitive students. Wedding dance programs are a speciality: couples can book a first dance, choreograph routines for parents or the entire wedding party, and lessons are recommended to start 5–6 months before the wedding date.

Teaching combines private lessons (40 minutes), group classes (90 minutes on Thursday nights), and practice parties. The curriculum is the Fred Astaire proprietary system. Instructors are certified professionals; many hold Fine Arts degrees and compete as award-winning ballroom dancers. The studio is accredited by the BBB.

Beyond classes, students access an on-site and online dance store, regional and national Pro-Am and amateur competitions, guest parties, showcases, spotlights, and coaching sessions. The atmosphere is described as welcoming, non-judgmental, and supportive. No partner is required—instructors partner with singles during private lessons, and group settings offer chances to dance with other students.
