About this studio
Freestyle Fitness is a 24/7 gym combined with a dance and fitness studio, locally owned and proudly serving Louisville since 2011. The studio offers group classes in pole, twerk, chair dance, burlesque, flexibility, and yoga, alongside bootcamp, capoeira, and hip-hop. All folx are welcome regardless of age, body type, or identity—the studio explicitly states that in this space love conquers all, Black Lives Matter, and sex work is REAL work.
Pole classes are divided by skill level: Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced. Beginners start learning safety, ways to move around the pole, transitions, basic spins, climbing, basic upright poses, flying moves, and inversion prep. Students typically don't have both feet off the floor until they've mastered bare essentials. Intermediate students progress to unconventional spins, thigh grips, basic inversions, leg hangs, lay-backs, and shoulder mount prep. Advanced students learn creative inversions, strength and grip-based poses, and climbing while upside-down. Pole Heels is a separate class for those comfortable walking, moving between poles, transitioning to the floor, and heel clacking.
Twerk classes cover foundational movements rooted in African dance and Dance Hall, with ties to New Orleans bounce and LGBTQ hip hop history. The class emphasises muscle control, endurance, and coordination while firming your derrière with an aerobic workout. Flexibility combines yoga flow with professional coaching for all skill levels. Acro Chair incorporates slow, controlled, sensual movements using a chair to strengthen core and endurance. Burlesque, rooted in comedy and mockery, focuses on liberation, confidence, sensuality, and finding your own unique style—beginner friendly and centred on mind, body, and spirit connection.
The studio offers private parties (1.5 hours, $250) for bachelorx parties, birthdays, or groups wanting to learn pole, twerk, chair dance, or burlesque. Parties begin with warmup and safety lesson, then progress to technique, combinations, and choreography. The studio space has professional lighting that sets a club-like feel and features 8 poles. Upcoming events include Embodied Core: Where Strength, Sensation & Movement Meet on August 22, 2026, a pelvic floor and embodied movement workshop led by Fleur Swenson (Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Specialist) and Stacie Steinbock (Intimacy and Tantra Coach), priced at $75.
Registration is done entirely online through Zen Planner and closes 2 hours before each class. You can purchase a membership, a single drop-in class, or, if you've attended before, sign in to your existing account. All students must be at least 18 years old. The studio maintains a no-refund policy and charges late-cancellation fees: $5 for a second no-call/no-show, $10 for a third, and $15 for a fourth and beyond.
What to expect
Your first visit
Classes start with a warmup followed by instruction on technique, then combinations or choreography. Most classes are done barefoot, though the studio notes skin contact helps with grip on poles. The space has professional lighting and a club-like feel. Registration closes 2 hours before class, and you'll need to arrive on time—tardiness may result in forfeiture of your class.
