About this studio
Nannette's Inc. Ballroom Dance teaches partner dances across four Central Florida locations: Orlando, DeBary, Longwood, and Celebration. The studio offers group classes in Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Tango, Hustle, and Samba, arranged by level from Beginners through Advanced. All group classes cost $116 per person for an eight-week session, with one 55-minute lesson per week. Classes are structured to let you progress from basics to intermediate and advanced technique, with the option to repeat levels to deepen your skill.
The teaching philosophy emphasizes learning through repetition and layering of technique. You're encouraged to retake classes in the same dance periodically—each exposure adds new layers of body control, arm movement, posture, and styling that make patterns look and feel better. You don't need a partner to join; the studio practices partner rotation in all group classes, which is their standard policy to help you learn faster and adapt to different dancers.
Nannette, the studio head, has taught ballroom for 25 years and competed professionally for 10 years, placing and winning in numerous competitions. She ranks sixth in the U.S. and competes in Pro-Am events and show work. Jeanne has eight years of teaching and Pro-Am experience, certified through ISTD Professional exam with Highly Commended marks. Dale brings 15 years of teaching, Pro-Am events, showcases, and professional show experience, also certified through ISTD Professional Exams.
Beyond group classes, the studio offers private lessons ($80 for 55 minutes, $45 for 30 minutes), semi-private lessons ($100 for 55 minutes), in-home private instruction ($200 per hour), and event instruction. Private lessons occur at the studio by appointment; learning happens at roughly twice the rate of group class. In-home lessons require an uncarpeted dance floor and a 12-hour cancellation notice. The studio also sells ballroom dance shoes, offers gift certificates, holds class graduations every eight weeks, and runs public dances, workshops, an Advanced Cha-Cha Master Class, and a Holiday Showcase.
What to expect
Your first visit
Classes are 55 minutes, held in eight-week sessions. Dress casually; smooth-soled shoes work best to start (backless shoes and tennis shoes are harder to learn in). You'll meet classmates at your level in a structured group, rotate partners throughout the session, and focus on one dance for the full eight weeks if you're a beginner.
