About this studio
Rollo Academy of Performing Arts has been teaching dance and singing in Nottingham for over 50 years. Susan Rollo opened The Rollo Academy of Dancing in January 1974, and after relocating from Parliament Street in 2008, the academy is now located on the outskirts of Nottingham City Centre at Roden House on Alfred St South.
The school teaches Ballet, Tap, Modern and Singing across structured classes and private tuition. Classes cater to all ages and abilities, with instruction from professional, experienced teachers. Many students have gone on to professional careers, performing in the West End, on UK tour, or abroad.
For adult learners, Rollo Academy currently offers Adult Ballet and Tap on Thursday evenings, suited to all ages and abilities. The school is also introducing open classes for college students on Friday afternoons with a focus on Jazz, Tap and Ballet. Classes are managed in some cases by more than one teacher to ensure all students receive the attention they need.
Beyond regular classes, the academy offers private lessons for students wanting to improve their skills or learn additional material for exams and festivals. The curriculum incorporates examinations, competitions and shows. The school emphasises creating a safe and fun environment where students can grow in confidence and ability while learning to interact and socialise with their peers.
Rollo Academy describes itself as more than a school — a family that welcomes students of all ambitions and backgrounds. The academy is committed to safeguarding and has clear policies on physical contact in dance training, child protection, and inclusion.
