All beginner classes are free and explicitly designed for people trying dancing for the first time, with instructors who break everything down step by step in a welcoming, pressure-free environment.

About this studio
The Ballroom of Reno is a nonprofit partner dance studio dedicated to making dance accessible to everyone in Reno. They offer free beginner classes in ballroom, Latin, country, rhythm, and swing styles, plus affordable group classes at just $10. Their beginner programme is comprehensive. Free classes run throughout the week: West Coast Swing (Mondays at 6pm with Jeffery and Cindy), Salsa (Mondays at 6pm with Irene), Bachata (Tuesdays at 6pm with Ashley and Russell), Argentine Tango Foundations (Wednesdays at 6pm with Zak and Victoria), Country Two-Step (Wednesdays at 6pm with Avery), and Viennese Waltz (Thursdays at 6pm with Jill). No partner or experience required—instructors break everything down step by step, and you can rotate partners throughout class or stay with your own. Beyond beginner, group classes continue at the same times for $10, including Beyond Basics levels in West Coast Swing, Salsa, Bachata, and Country Two-Step, plus Continuing Tango, Beyond Basics Viennese Waltz, U-Jam Dance Fitness (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am with Grace), and Sunday Yoga Reset with Kiana.
Private lessons start with an Intro Special: two 55-minute sessions for $39. The studio teaches a wide range of dances: ballroom styles (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep), Latin (Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba, Merengue, Bolero, Argentine Tango, Cumbia), country dances (Arizona Two-Step, Country Swing, Country Two-Step, Country Waltz, Line Dancing, Polka), and rhythm dances (West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, NightClub 2-Step, Lindy Hop, Hustle).
The teaching staff brings significant experience. Jeffrey Munson is a West Coast Swing AllStar and Champion with over 30 years of dance and teaching experience; Jillian Cancino offers 17 years in social and competitive ballroom and is a wedding dance choreographer; Irene Robles is versatile across ballroom, Latin, swing, and Argentine Tango; Ashley Atwood specialises in American Style Ballroom, Latin, and country dances and also choreographs weddings; Avery Singleton teaches American Ballroom, Rhythm, and both Texas and Arizona Two-Step; Cindy Westin specialises in West Coast Swing; Zak and Victoria teach Argentine Tango; Russell Heusser teaches Bachata and social Latin; and Kiana Moriarty brings 15+ years of yoga practice and 200-hour training for their Sunday Yoga Reset classes.
The studio offers floor rental and practice space, wedding and special event dance lessons, and a free weekly Dance With Me programme—a dementia-friendly partner dance class. They also run regular practice parties, with ballroom practice happening on the first Saturday of each month. The studio is supported in part by the Nevada Arts Council, which receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the state of Nevada.
