About this studio
The Dance Authority has been teaching dance in Omaha since 2001. The studio is located at the southwest corner of Harrison and 180th Street and welcomes families to schedule a no-obligation tour during office hours to see the facility.
The studio emphasises smaller class sizes and more individual attention, with a tenured staff of dance teachers. Many of the core staff members grew up dancing at The Dance Authority. Teachers are described as bringing "current and former professional dancer" experience, especially within the competition programme. The studio positions itself as blending "comfort, relationships, and support with training, development and mastery."
Classes span all ages and levels. Baby and pre-school programmes include Mommy and Me and Move and Groove for the youngest students. Early childhood classes like Tiny Tots (3–4 year-olds), Rising Stars (4–5), Shining Stars (5–6) and Shooting Stars (7–8) focus on the popular Ballet/Tap Combo. Older students (ages 9+) can take individual classes in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical and Ballet technique, alongside Pointe, Pre-Pointe, Leaps Jumps and Turns, Tumbling, Flexibility, and Boys Hip-Hop. The studio also runs a highly accredited Competition Team comprising Bitty, Mini, Petite, Company and Academy levels, where dancers train in challenging and advanced classes.
Beyond regular classes, The Dance Authority offers Summer Dance Camps, Master Classes and Dance Clinics, Birthday Dance Parties, and Adult Fitness Classes. Students participate in an annual Revue. The studio also sells dance wear in-house, functioning as a one-stop shop for families.
The staff includes owner and director Darci Bray, Competition Team Facilitator Megan Jones, Competition Team Coordinator Jamie Gunn, and instructor Jason Shimerdla.
