About this studio

The Dance Room teaches ballroom and Latin dance in Sarasota, serving dancers from complete beginners to advanced competitors. The studio operates Monday to Friday 10:00 AM–9:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM–4:00 PM, and is closed Sundays.

The team is led by owner and lead instructor Ilya Reyzin, a former United States 9 Dance Professional Champion, 5 times World Professional American Rhythm Finalist, and 2 x North American Professional American Rhythm Champion. Ilya has been in the industry over thirty years and is a nationally renowned judge and coach. He was born in Moscow, Russia and has lived in the United States for 35 years. The studio also employs Anna Melnyk, a seasoned International Latin Dance Professional who is a two-time vice-champion of Ukraine and silver medalist in the 2011 Professional Cup of Ukraine. Vlad Rekun, a certified ballroom dance instructor with over 26 years of professional dance career experience and a Dance Vision National Champion, teaches at the studio. Tania Rekun, a U.S. National Championship title holder and professional ballroom dancer and instructor, serves as dance instructor and office manager.

The studio offers private lessons with one-on-one choreography and technique training, group classes for all levels, and wedding dance packages. Group classes are designed to complement private lessons and are offered at $200 for 10 classes, with the first group class free. Youth ballroom classes run Tuesdays 4:45 pm–5:15 pm for ages 5–8 and Saturdays 10:15 am–11:00 am for ages 11–15, at $100 per month for one class per week. Youth classes teach dances including Cha Cha, Waltz, and Swing. The studio runs regular social dance parties and competitions. No partner is required for any class; partners are rotated throughout group sessions. An introductory lesson is available for $25 with no commitment required.
