About this studio
The Promenade Dance Studio occupies 5,500 square feet of floating hardwood dance floor in Windsor Mill, Maryland, and operates seven days a week offering group lessons every evening during the week plus three social dances each weekend. The studio teaches a broad range of partner and solo dances across ballroom, Latin, swing and club styles: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive, Bolero, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Lindy Hop, Salsa, Nightclub Two-Step, Argentine Tango, Flamenco, Merengue, Bachata, Hand Dancing, Cuban Salsa (Rueda), and Zumba.
Group lessons run at all levels from beginner through advanced. Monday evenings include Beginner Merengue/Bachata with Mary Botta, Tango Workshop with Mary Botta, and Zumba with Germaine Turner-Jones. Tuesday offers Beginner East Coast Swing with Yuko Ota, Novice Bachata and Novice Salsa (LA Style) with Rebecca Mohammed, plus International Samba and International Quickstep (Silver/Gold Syllabus) with Catherine Noblitt. Wednesday features Intermediate American Cha Cha with Igor Kiselev, and Advanced Beginner Bachata and Salsa with Rebecca Mohammed. Thursday brings Level 2 and Level 1 West Coast Swing with Amanda Stearns and Corey Von Ginkel. Saturdays include Hand Dancing with Carla, Yvette and Veronica, and Cuban Salsa (Rueda) with Cedric Teamer. Sundays host Beginner/Intermediate East Coast Swing with Jennifer Gooding and Intermediate/Advanced International Waltz with Katya Sergiev, both followed by the Tea Dance social (1:00–5:00 pm) with a light buffet included.
Weekend social events run regularly. The Sunday Tea Dance (1:00–5:00 pm) includes two one-hour lessons followed by dancing to a mix of ballroom, Latin and swing provided by DJ Sean Hinckley, with light buffet included. Admission is $20 per person, $10 for first-timers, active military, or students with ID; bring a first-time friend for $10 off. The Late Night West Coast Swing Party (Saturdays, 7:00 pm–3:00 am) is presented by Amanda Stearns and Corey Von Ginkel. Special events include The Saturday Stomp country dance nights with Amanda Stearns and Corey Von Ginkel, Friday Night Swing Dances with live bands, the Fall Showcase, Ceili Dances presented by The Emerald Isle Club of Baltimore, and a Halloween Party.
The studio rents its space for private events: wedding ceremonies and receptions, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthday and anniversary celebrations, corporate events, holiday parties, fundraisers and charity events. The venue holds up to 250 guests and features a prep kitchen with convection oven and professional refrigeration, DJ booth with sound equipment, audio-visual equipment with drop-down big screen, high-speed wireless internet, wireless microphones, spacious restrooms and dressing rooms, reception counter, and ample free parking. The Promenade has an open-vendor catering policy and allows complimentary alcohol service; one-day liquor licences are required if alcohol is sold. Events must be invitation-only private affairs to maintain the integrity of the dance floor. Set-up and take-down of all included items is available.
The studio partners with Excellence Academy to offer children's dance classes (ages 2 and up) in Ballet, Jazz, Acro, and Hip Hop; contact Tonnia Boykins for details. The studio welcomes single dancers and beginners at all social events and offers private lessons with highly qualified and accredited instructors. Doors open to the public 30 minutes prior to weekend parties.
