About this studio

University Dance Center runs dance and movement courses across nine Slovak cities: Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Nitra, Poprad, Prešov, Trenčín, Trnava and Žilina. The school offers more than 100 classes per week across its network. Their philosophy is simple: the school is for everyone. You don't need prior dance experience or particular athletic ability to join. Classes welcome students, working adults and seniors from age 15 upwards.

The range of styles is broad. Folk dance and social dance form core offerings, alongside Salsa, Bachata and Tango Argentino. For those seeking movement rather than strict technique, the school teaches Zumba, contemporary, hip-hop and chair dance. Several courses focus on styling and choreography: Salsa Lady Styling, Bachata Lady Styling, Latino Lady Style, Ladies Choreo MTV, and High Heels Latino. Shuffle, reggaeton, body styling, yoga and pilates round out the timetable.

Enrolment is straightforward. You choose a city, check the class schedule, complete an online registration form, attend your first class, and pay the membership fee in cash at that first session. You'll receive a membership card to use at every class. The school runs a 2+1 offer: register for three courses and pay for the two with the highest fees. Pricing is split into categories for adults, students, seniors and those with disabilities; these rates cannot be mixed.

You can join a course even after it has started, though registration closes two weeks in advance of the next term. If you miss a class, you may reschedule one missed session per term to any other class in the current schedule, provided you notify the school by email at least three hours ahead. Cancellation is possible only within 15 minutes of your first class, or later only with medical documentation—in which case you can transfer your fee to the next term or pass your course to someone else. Pair dances like Salsa, Bachata and Tango Argentino do not require you to bring a partner; the school pairs participants on the first night.
