They maintain ongoing relationships with established maestros and maestras, bringing living tradition and rigorous knowledge to their teaching.
Their teaching philosophy rests on a distinction between tango interior and tango exterior. Tango interior is danced in the abrazo—the embrace—focused on connection with your partner; this is salon tango. Tango exterior is performed for an audience, including stage and competition tango. The school emphasizes interior tango and the dialogue between partners, teaching students to feel what happens within the embrace rather than chase visible effect. Beginners learn through exploration of sensitivity to movement, self-awareness through the body, and the fundamentals of the walk—the foundation of everything in tango.
Classes are available as single drop-ins, stage/practice sessions, three-month cards (10 consecutive classes), annual cards (1 class per week, 40 classes), or annual cards for 2 classes per week. A free initiation class is available for anyone new, and the Saturday workshop explores a theme common to all levels. The school also offers private lessons for all levels, whether you come alone or as a couple.
La Práctica Victor runs every Wednesday evening and has done so for nine years. Originally open mainly to students of the school, it has become a welcoming space for all tango dancers. It is an assisted practice—Leah and Jean-Philippe are present to answer questions about technique, class material, or the culture of the milonga, but do not lead the session.
The school organizes regular stages (workshops) in tango, vals, and milonga, exploring the dialogue between partners and how different rhythms generate figures from the spaces available in the salon.
