About this studio
Alexis Massey is a professional ballroom and Latin dancer and certified instructor based in Los Angeles. She earned her teaching certification through DVIDA and is a member of ProDVIDA, NASSPDA (North American Same-Sex Partner Dance Association), and the NDCA (National Dance Council of America). In 2020, she became North American same-sex Latin champion; she has also won titles in American Rhythm and is an American Smooth Champion. In 2017, she won the emerald ring as a top teacher at the Emerald Ball, one of the biggest competitions in the country.
Alexis teaches from multiple locations across Los Angeles: West LA near Brentwood and Pico Boulevard, the Westside near San Vicente Boulevard, and Sherman Oaks in the Valley. She is proficient in teaching over 30 styles of dance and movement, including all forms of partnership, ballet, hip-hop, K-POP, and yoga. The studios feature new dance floors, Bose sound systems, and are Covid safe.
Private lessons are available without long-term contracts—you can purchase one lesson at a time. Each lesson is tailored to your specific needs and goals, whether you're preparing for a wedding, special event, performance, competition, or simply want to learn to dance. Alexis teaches proper technique, lead, and follow from the first lesson. All ages and levels are welcome.
Group classes in Salsa and Bachata run weekly in Santa Monica at LA Salsa & Bachata Dance Academy (1247 Lincoln Blvd). Classes are organised by level and day: Sunday offers Bachata Level 1 (2:15–4pm) and Salsa Level 1 (4:15–6pm); Monday features Bachata Level 2 (7:30–9:30pm); Tuesday is Salsa Level 2 (8–10pm); Wednesday is Bachata Level 1 (8–10pm); and Thursday is Salsa Level 1 (8–10pm). Classes are small with lots of personal attention and one-on-one feedback. No partner or prior experience is necessary.
Alexis regularly takes students out dancing to salsa and bachata clubs and dance events across LA to practice skills, connect with the community, and meet other dancers. She also offers choreography for birthdays, weddings, private parties, and special events. Her teaching style is patient yet firm, highlighted with comedic relief—students often describe her as a "drill-sergeant" who ensures you learn the right way the first time. Her students frequently place first in showcases and competitions.

Her formal training includes studies at the Fern Adair Academy of Performing Arts and the Interlochen School of the Arts. She earned her DVIDA teaching certification and became a member of ProDVIDA, NASSPDA, and NDCA.
