About this studio
Danceography of Syracuse opened in Utica in 2011 and grew to 300 students in five years. The studio's philosophy centres on creating a positive, noncompetitive environment where children find their own reward within themselves rather than chasing competition. The family moved the studio to the Syracuse area to spread that same love, passion and fun to more children.
You'll find classes across five main styles. Creative Movement (ages 3–5) introduces spatial relationships, body parts and gross motor movements through core dance basics, alongside classroom etiquette and social skills. Ballet classes emphasise terminology, flexibility, coordination and body alignment, building self-discipline, posture, strength and an appreciation of dance as an art. Jazz students train precise footwork, combinations, jazz walks, turns, leaps and extensions, working on sharp movements and centre control. Hip Hop teaches breaking, locking, popping and freestyle to upbeat, kid-friendly music at a fast pace that builds focus and direction-following. Tap classes use the feet as musical instruments, developing concentration, rhythm, timing and coordination through traditional and contemporary combinations.
Classes run 30 minutes once weekly and are priced by how many classes you take per week: one class runs £40 monthly, two classes £65, three £85, four £105, five £125 and six £145. Registration opens August to November for the school year and May to July for summer. A £25 registration fee holds your spot. Costumes cost up to £45 per class (due around show time) with a £20 deposit per class due in February.
The studio encourages families who want their children involved in other activities without the pressure of multiple weekly commitments. Dance is a hobby and a joy, not a lifestyle demand. Parents can log into a parent portal to register for classes, view schedules, pay tuition and manage costume deposits. The studio also maintains a Facebook parent group to keep families updated on studio information and events.
