About this studio

Dancing Stars Dance Studio, established in July 2016, has trained hundreds of dancers across all ages and levels over nearly a decade. Located on Isleta Boulevard in Albuquerque, the studio offers both recreational classes and pre-professional competitive training. The faculty consists of highly trained, experienced dance professionals with diverse backgrounds in multiple styles.

The studio teaches ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tumbling, acro, lyrical and contemporary, and cheer. Ballet classes build strong technique, discipline, and grace through classical training focused on posture, turns, leaps, flexibility, and artistry. Jazz develops strength, style, and precision with dynamic choreography that builds confidence, musicality, and stage presence. Hip-hop classes are high-energy, focused on rhythm, freestyle foundations, and performance. Tumbling offers advanced acrobatic training including handsprings, aerials, tucks, and combination skills. Acro blends dance and gymnastics to develop flexibility, balance, and fluid transitions. Lyrical and contemporary expressive movement blends ballet and modern styles to tell stories through emotion, control, and artistry. Cheer combines sharp motions, jumps, stunts, and tumbling with teamwork and high-energy performance training.

Owner and founder Brittney Garcia brings over 16 years of elite cheer and dance experience, beginning in 2008. After overcoming two ACL injuries, she earned a spot on her high school varsity dance team as a freshman and continued as a competitive performer before transitioning into coaching. Brittney is a nationally and regionally recognized choreographer, with award-winning routines consistently celebrated at competitions across the country. She has been named "Best of Weddings" in both 2024 and 2025 and specializes in jazz and lyrical choreography. She has also served as a choreographer and coach for the Duke City Gladiators professional indoor football organisation's dance programme.

Instructor Jeri Trujillo brings over 15 years of diverse dance experience in hip-hop, jazz, and pom, with her true passion in hip-hop. She trained beginning in 2005 at a local studio on the West Side of Albuquerque before joining the West Mesa Fillies dance team in 2014, helping the team earn multiple state titles including three championship wins. She continues to perform with professional and semi-professional adult dance crews, including the Albuquerque-based group Throb, and served as captain of the Duke City Gladiator Girls. Since 2018, she has coached at Dancing Stars. Instructor Danae began her cheer career in 7th grade at Polk Middle School and Ultimate Destination All-Star Cheer, earning a National Championship title and a bid to compete at Worlds. After an injury ended her cheer career, she transitioned into coaching, specialising in cheer, tumbling, and technique. Instructor Jaelynn has been dancing since age four and is a Division I athlete currently dancing at the University of New Mexico. She has trained extensively in jazz and lyrical with choreographers who have worked with major artists such as Madonna and Usher, performed at a Phoenix Suns game, and earned a National Championship title in the Encore Division 3 competition in 2024.

Dancers at Dancing Stars have opportunities to perform at local events, competitions, showcases, and community celebrations. The studio hosts an annual studio car show that celebrates movement, music, and community pride. The studio is recognised for excellence in training and performance, and former dancers and instructors trained under studio leadership have gone on to open their own studios and programmes.
