About this studio

Dansation is based at 90 Corbiehill Crescent in Edinburgh's Davidsons Mains, with additional classes at Saughtonhall Community Association, Carrickvale Community Centre in Stenhouse, and East Calder at Calderwood Primary School.

Kerry Addison founded the school 18 years ago after gaining teaching qualifications with the Royal Academy of Dance, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, and United Kingdom Alliance, plus an HND in Professional Stage Dance. Before opening Dansation, she performed in shows and pantomimes across the country and worked as a dancer and choreographer for Prestonfield House Hotel, where she spent 17 years choreographing the World Famous "A Taste of Scotland Show" for professional dancers and children.

The studio teaches RAD Ballet following the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Syllabus, ISTD Tap, ISTD Modern, Contemporary using the IDCompany syllabus, Hip Hop and Commercial (also IDCompany), Jazz, and UKA Highland. Classes start from age 10 months with the Dinky Dots programme and run through to adult fitness classes. Students can work towards examinations at graded or vocational level, or focus on performance and competition. The performance groups have been asked to represent Scotland in the Dance World Cup.

The main studio is bright and spacious, equipped with an excellent sound system and disco lights. The environment is described as positive, welcoming and energetic. The school produces dance shows every two years to showcase new talent and the art of dance. Many former Dansation students have gone on to perform on cruises, at Disneyland, in hotels and on television, while others have become dance teachers and choreographers.
