About this studio

Delaware Center for Dance is a studio in Wilmington founded by Briana Hayman, its owner and artistic director. Over three years, it has trained 60+ students each season and produced national award-winning dancers. The studio teaches ballet, jazz, modern (Horton-style), hip hop, contemporary, and strength & conditioning. Classes are designed for dancers on a professional-track journey, with placement based on age and ability.

The faculty includes owner Briana Hayman, and instructors Richard Andrew, Cara Reese, and Luis Mulero. The studio describes its teaching approach as combining "professional training and real-world performing arts experience" to equip dancers with strong technical foundations while inspiring confidence, discipline, and self-expression. Ballet is a foundation requirement: students must be enrolled in ballet to take jazz, modern, or contemporary.

The studio offers both children's and adult classes. Children's classes include Tiny Tot, and training spans Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Strength & Conditioning. Adult classes are available. The studio also runs free community programming, including a Youth Outdoor Stretch Class held at Battery Park. Classes emphasize injury prevention, technique development through targeted exercises using tools like therabands, yoga blocks, and ankle weights.

The studio operates Monday–Friday 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It is currently fundraising through "The Founding Block Campaign" to complete a permanent studio build-out, which will include professional dance flooring, mirrors, ballet barres, a welcoming lobby, and an upgraded sound system. The studio has served hundreds of community members through dance and wellness programming and aims to expand scholarship opportunities.
