About this studio
Fire and Ice Latin and Ballroom teaches partner dancing across three locations: Cincinnati (10725 Reading Road), Dayton (8967 Kings Ridge Drive) and Newport, Kentucky (720 York Street). The studio offers instruction in ballroom, Latin, smooth, rhythm, salsa, bachata, waltz, cha-cha, tango and swing for all ages from 6 to 110.
Laura Karasek has been teaching ballroom for over 10 years. She started dancing in her 40s and fell in love with the form; she now teaches social, performance and competitive dancing and describes herself as a coach rather than just a teacher. Malaki Woodward has been teaching ballroom for 9 years and specialises in salsa, bachata and wedding dances, including themed wedding dances such as Beauty and the Beast.
The studio caters to multiple paths through dancing. You can train for competitive ballroom, prepare a wedding dance, or learn for social dancing. Your first lesson is free. The studio emphasises that it is LGBTQ+ and bipop friendly, with a welcoming environment for dancers of all levels.
