About this studio

Fred Astaire Dance Studio of North Raleigh teaches ballroom, Latin, Smooth, Rhythm and Swing dances. The studio is located at 10320 Durant Rd, Suite 105 in North Raleigh and is run by studio owners Sergei and Adriana, who met seven years ago on the dance floor. The teaching team includes certified instructors Katrin Hordiienko and Maksym Vasylyk, among others.

The studio's approach centres on private lessons, group classes and practice parties. Private lessons are tailored to your pace and may be scheduled during business hours by appointment. Group classes cover a variety of dances and technique across all levels and are typically scheduled in afternoons and evenings throughout the week. Practice sessions take place in the studio with dimmed lights and music in a party-like atmosphere, letting you apply what you've learned without pressure and meet other students.

Wedding dance instruction is a speciality. You can learn anything from a few basic steps for your first dance to a fully choreographed routine for your entire wedding party. The studio also offers Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance lessons. A 40-minute wedding dance consultation lesson costs $40 for new students. The studio recommends starting lessons at least five to six months before your wedding, though it works with couples on tighter timelines too. You're encouraged to bring your favourite song, venue pictures, wedding attire photos and dance video examples to your consultation.

The studio welcomes both singles and couples. If you attend alone, an instructor partners with you for private lessons. You do not need any dance experience to start. The introductory offer for new students is two 30-minute private lessons for $60 for an individual or $80 for a couple. Instructors are certified in the Fred Astaire curriculum and many have Fine Arts degrees and compete professionally. The studio also offers access to Regional, National and International amateur and Pro-Am competitions.
